Guitar Phrasing Basics Video Clip

The Fifth Fret guitar blog features great instruction content. I recently discovered a very cool Scott Henderson video lesson clip posted there. The video is actually about 20 years old, putting Scott into his early Tribal Tech days; just following his stint with Chick Corea on the first Elektric Band release. The young 1980's Scott shows you how to play & phrase the way you talk, with the help of Jingle Bells, Ed and Ed's girlfriend-- oh yeah, also an assortment of most excellent guitar faces!

BTW, this clip has been re-released as part of a new 135 minute DVD called "Jazz-Rock Mastery" -- available HERE.

While we're in learning mode, another blog - A Guitar Teacher's Lesson Notebook, by Seattle guitar teacher Rob Hampton has a great post on basic Blues turnarounds. Several examples are provided; each including staff, tab and an audio clip. And remember kids, you can use those same turnarounds into the I chord instead of the V when it's finally time to end the tune.
